After completing a 12-week Legal Assistant Certificate Program in the fall of 2015 with University College, Kashia Jennings was offered a part-time position with the RI Department of Human Services. They recognized her skill level immediately and after just one week at DHS, she was offered a full-time position in long-term care, "It’s a good combination of the social work and legal fields," two fields that she says she has always been interested in.

Before coming to 91º£½ÇÂÒÂ×, Jennings had been pursuing a degree in social work. She was able to transfer in her credits from another university, and appreciated the flexibility of UC in recognizing her prior work and experience.

Jennings' goal is to work for the Attorney General. She credits her education at UC for opening up the legal field to her and is excited for her future.

As a single mom Jennings admits that going to school and working full-time "is exhausting—working full time then coming to class. But I can do it. I can get it done."
