Janet Baldwin joined the SECCM faculty after completing her M.S. and Ph.D. at The Pennsylvania State University in Environmental Engineering. Prior to that she had received her B.S. from Tufts University in Civil Engineering. She is a registered Professional Engineering in the state of Maine.

Dr. Baldwin’s research focuses on water: stormwater management as well as drinking and wastewater treatment. She has completed numerous projects for Rhode Island communities on stormwater quality and control as well as drinking water supplies. Students working with her on these projects have won research awards at environmental conferences.  

Dr. Baldwin has also sought out opportunities to help communities in developing countries establish sustainable and safe water supplies. For this, she has traveled to remote areas of Brazil, The Dominican Republic, and Ecuador. She has involved a number of students in this work, affording them the opportunity to apply their knowledge to real-life problems and help others at the same time.

Active in her profession, Dr. Baldwin has served on the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Board of Licensure for the state of Rhode Island for many years. At Roger Williams University, she also currently serves as the founding advisor for both the Society of Women Engineers and Engineering Without Borders student chapters.

At 91º£½ÇÂÒÂ×, she teaches ENGR 210- Engineering Statics, ENGR 415- Water and Wastewater Treatment, ENGR 407- Solid and Hazardous Waste Management, and ENGR 490 and 492- Engineering design I and II.
